Introduction

Salmon Vision is a platform providing users access to a diverse set of cutting-edge AI tools for salmon monitoring and stewardship. Our goals are to provide cost-effective tools that improve the quality of monitoring data, while reducing staff and resource demands associated with annual data review and reporting. These tools can support timely, data-informed decision making, increasing the long-term sustainability and resilience of fish populations and the cultural, ecological, and economic values they sustain. We respect the independence of our partners/clients, and ensure that all data is secure and protected. Ongoing data sharing agreements will be developed with partners at the outset of work, to uphold partners data sovereignty and uphold OCAP across all of our work. Generally, this agreement will involve ongoing access for the Salmon Vision team to training data produced by partners, with actual count estimates and video data owned exclusively by partners, not to be shared without permission.

This manual is a living document which outlines the practical procedures to work with the tools provided on the Salmon Vision Platform. This is not a detailed description of the technical components underlying the tools, but instead a how to install and use the tools.
